To GVLTC members
We have a new Bar Manager at the club, Steve.   He has a lot of experience in the business and has some good ideas for various events at the club, the first of which is a Talent Night and Disco to take place on Saturday, 15th November, starting at 7.30 through to 12ish.
It would be great to see some successful functions taking off at the club so if you aren't doing anything on the 15th why not come along and enjoy the evening?
Madeleine Holder

The League Dinner was attended in force this year by GVLTC. We picked up numerous Trophies and then danced the night away in the Statham Lodge

Secretarys Update
A roundup of tennis this year at GVLTC.
Teams have had a good deal of success this year particularly in the Warrington League.   The Ladies 1st and 3rd teams won their divisions and the 2nd and 4th teams were second.   The Gents were less successful but can no doubt do better next year.   The mixed teams also had a successful season with the 2nd and 3rd teams winning their divisons.
Although the lower teams in each category didn't do so well in terms of results, having these teams gave a number of new members a chance to participate and hopefully go on to play regularly next year.
We entered 3 teams in the J L Arden Knock Out Cup and the 1st team won the cup.
A new Floodlight League was set up by Warington League last winter.   We entered two teams and the league was won by our 1st team.   The league is to continue this year and we will again be entering two teams.
We participated in the North East Cheshire Winter League, again with a good degree of success, the third team winning their division again.   We have entered five teams again this year.
The social side of tennis is being promoted with a number of initiatives.   The club Floodlight League has started again on Wednesday evening and is proving very popular.   Although the League is underway anyone interested may be able to play as a reserve with a view to joining in on a regular basis after Christmas.     The club Handicap Tournament was held in September with the finals on 28th September.   Winners were as follows:
Gents Singles:     Alan (The Killer) Austin
Ladeis Singles:    Suzanne Robertson
Gents Doubles:    Kristian Bird and Will Hewitt
Ladies Doubles:   Hilary Howson and Liz Sinclair
Mixed Doubles:    Alan (The Destroyer) Austin and Sally Green.

Well done to all Members of the GVLTC Dale Arden Cup Team, '2008 Champions'
